Watsonville/Aptos/Santa Cruz Adult Education is continuing to evolve. The Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) provides Adult Education services county-wide and not duplicate services. In our brochure you will see classes offered in seven areas:
Elementary and secondary basic skills, including classes required for a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate.
Classes and courses for immigrants eligible for educational services in citizenship and English as a Second Language and workforce preparation classes in basic skills.
Education programs for Adults with Disabilities.
Short-term Career Technical Education Programs with high employment potential.
Programs for Apprentices.
Adult Training to support child school success.
Adults in the workforce (including older adults).
If you are looking for a new line of work, starting your own business or just want to supplement your income/retirement, then please look at the Adults in the Workforce (including Older Adults) Pathways on page 12. We have a program that allows you to create retail products and then learn how to market items online using eBay. We offer content classes in areas such as Ceramics (cups, large pots and sculpture), Woodworking, (including wood furniture refurbishing), Painting, Watercolor, Digital Photography and more. Once you have taken a content class learning a new creative skill, you can then take a Workforce Pathway support class to advertise on the internet. In case you need to expand your internet and email skills, you can take Introduction to Computers, Email and the Internet support class. Other support classes include eBay, Office Skills Computer Class (including Google Docs), Digital Photography and if your business grows a QuickBooks class. Watsonville/Aptos/Santa Cruz Adult Education is a Pearson-Vue Testing Center, the only one in Santa Cruz County! We are currently located at the Green Valley Center and offer the 2014 GED test and other California Teacher Credential Exams such as the RICA, CBEST, CPACE, CSET and CTEL. All tests are completed on computers. We have expanded testing opportunities for students by adding more computers to the testing center. Sign up today to complete your GED!
